Art Therapist Kerrie Neilen in Melbourne Australia

ABOUT ME

Hello, I’m Kerrie Neilen, and I’m an artist and art therapist.
Art is how I find meaning and make sense of the world around me. It’s helps me understand and express myself, while also fostering connection and solace with others. This is what I hope to share and offer others through my work as an art therapist.

Drawing from my own professional art practice, I share both technical knowledge and a deep appreciation for the therapeutic potential of art.
My focus over the last few years has been supporting young people in their homes who identify as neurodivergent, by providing peer led art therapy to foster self-regulation, self-esteem, and self-expression, all vital for emotional development and wellbeing. I’m passionate about providing neuro-affirming and identity-affirming care, and am a proud LGBTQIA+ ally.

My experience includes community and clinical settings, such as the Royal Melbourne Children’s Hospital and Mind Australia, where I’ve supported children, adolescents, and adults through art therapy. I am also a studio artist at Arts Project Australia, supporting artists with intellectual disabilities in their professional art practice, and advocating for their inclusion in contemporary art scenes.

I hold professional membership with ANZACATA, a Master of Art Therapy from La Trobe University in Melbourne and a Fine Arts Degree from RMIT in Melbourne.
