ABOUT ART THERAPY

Group Art Therapy representation using collage
  • Art therapy is an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication. It is practiced by qualified Masters trained therapists who use art to help people explore and make sense of their thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

The adaptive nature of art therapy allows for personalised approaches that honour individual needs, preferences, and processing styles. Each person's creative journey is unique, supported by evidence-based therapeutic techniques that promote healing and growth.

MY APPROACH

My art therapy approach is person-centred and evidence-based, creating a safe, non-judgmental space for creative expression and neuro-affirming growth. I build authentic therapeutic relationships anchored in compassion, empathy, and playfulness, while leaning into existential exploration and self-enquiry.

I collaborate with children, young people, and adults to tailor each session to their unique therapeutic goals and strengths, accommodating all communication and sensory needs. Working with diverse art materials and techniques, I provide optional prompts and guidance while honouring each person's creative process. We may make art collaboratively, separately, or sometimes not at all.

As a practicing artist, I understand the creative process as an empowering and cathartic tool. I support those I work alongside to trust their artistic journey while building their toolkit for self-acceptance and personal growth.
